The artist’s casket was received at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport by his wife and senior government officials, before being taken through the city in a flower-bedecked ambulance, as thousands sang his songs and chanted “Jai Zubeen da” in his honor.

By the time his remains reached his Kahilipara residence, hundreds had already gathered outside, many holding cut-outs and traditional Assamese 'gamosas' with messages paying tribute to the singer. Security was tight as officials managed the throngs of supporters, some of whom had assembled since the night before to pay last respects.

During this period, official events have been suspended and the late singer’s body will be kept at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex (Sarusajai Stadium) in Guwahati from 9 am to 7 pm, allowing the public an opportunity to offer tributes. The final venue and time for cremation will be decided following an official cabinet meeting in the evening.
