Court Grants Bail To Assamese Actress Nandini Kashyap in Controversial Hit-and-Run Case

Assamese actress Nandini Kashyap, who was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Guwahati that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Samiul Haque, has been granted bail by the court. Kashyap was taken into custody on July 30 after police charged her with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, a non-bailable offense, following Haque's death days after the accident on July 25.

The incident occurred in the Dakhingaon area of Guwahati when Samiul Haque, a student and part-time worker, was struck by a speeding Mahindra Scorpio allegedly driven by the actress. Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage confirmed the involvement of her vehicle. Despite initial outrage and demands for strict action against her, the court decided to grant bail, even as the victim's family and various organizations continue to seek justice.

Kashyap’s vehicle was seized by the police, and she was questioned in detail during the investigation. The case drew significant public and media attention due to the tragic death and the celebrity status of the accused.
